Winter Haven Bike Fest CANCELLED |

If you have been following the story, you know we reported just over a month ago that the Winter Haven Bikefest was changed from a monthly to quarterly event. The City of Winter Haven has now announced that the Bike Fest is CANCELLED. There have been rumors floating around about this over the past few weeks and I finally was able to receive confirmation today. Per the representative at the city, the Bike Fest was cancelled due to lack of funding. Based on my last conversation with the chair of the committee who organized this event, all funds for the Bike Fest came from the fees vendors paid each month. The fees were typically collected the night of the event, so if bad weather moved in, the vendors didn't show up and there were no funds to collect. You don't need a lot of those months to get you in red after paying for the city employees that are needed to run the event- police officers, clean up crews, etc. It is too bad that the city of Winter Haven could not come up with a better plan to help fund the bike fest instead of cancelling it all together. Especially since it was such a well attended and popular event. I for one, am sad to see the Winter Haven Bike Fest go... |

Veteran’s Day Weekend Kick-Off At Seminole Power Sports |

 Last Friday night Seminole Power Sports hosted a very special event to kick-off Veteran’s Day Weekend- a surprise party for Gunny Sargeant Ralph John Forge III who is retiring from the US Marine Corps after 23 years of service.
Friends and fellow Marines talked Gunny Forge into putting on his dress blues to attend a Veteran’s celebration taking place at Seminole Power Sports. He had no idea what was waiting for him when he arrived …a brand new 2008 Honda Goldwing. His sweet wife Christine had ordered this special retirement gift from the dealership and began telling the Seminole Power Sports staff about her plans. The staff began planning some additions of their own and added extra parts, more chrome and even arranged for a custom Marine Corps inspired paint job.

Polka Dot Tour Around Florida |

 On Saturday, October 6, 2007 riders will be revving up for the fight against breast cancer on this year’s week long Polka Dot Tour. Pink polka-dot ribbons, symbolizing breast cancer infused with attitude, will be flying as survivors and supporters hit the streets on motorcycles and RVs, circling the state of Florida to bring awareness to the growing number of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
